ABOUT TALLAHASSEE

Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Tallahassee.

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Tallahassee Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

Charles was friendly and presented some useful experiential knowledge. I especially appreciated his demonstration of how our camera can be programmed to automatically do the degree of bracketing we program it to do.

James King, our instructor, was great. There was a mix-up with the time and he went out of his way to accommodated us. My daughter is just beginning in photography, and he worked with her on the basics of the rule of thirds and how to create depth. Her enthusiasm for the medium has jumped up several notches since the class. I would highly recommend.

Why were bees so drippy this past week? Because they forgot their yellow jackets.Bees hide under flowers during rain primarily as a survival instinct to avoid the physical and physiological dangers posed by water. When caught away from their hive, flowers act as temporary "umbrellas" that protect their flight capabilities and body temperature.May 9, 2026 1:53pmCanon EOS 7D Mark ll1/100 sec F/5.6 ISO640

I was finishing up catching a sunrise and found this young lady. I thought capturing her would finish up my session with a bang. I have to get a hold of her agent to find out when she's available again.

The tide was low and the wind was calm. Wildlife was searching the mornings meal to start their day on this beautiful morning.

Title or Location: St. Marks Wildlife Refuge Lighthouse St. Marks ,Fl.
As the wind cooled the evening and the sun slipped toward the horizon, I rounded the backside of the lighthouse and discovered a quiet tidal pool tucked into the brush. I carefully worked my way through the palms and sand, positioning myself just right as the sky ignited and the water turned to glass. For a brief moment, the lighthouse stood between day and night ? grounded above, reflected below.

I was looking for Whimbrels, or other migratory shore birds when I spotted this common tern flying around. At some point it dove and caught a fish. I instinctively aimed my camera and took a few pictures before flying away.

Steam was really enshrouding the main pool of Grand Prismatic, so I looked for other compelling ways to capture images. This image features some of the sinter terraces and cooler water thermophiles thriving around the central pool perimeter.

This is at the end of a 3.5 mile hike, with no trail, after you have a limited availability permit. Took me 5 years to get it. It is better to be there late morning to mid afternoon so the formation is fully illuminated.
